Lelouch gave his life for a world that would have ended without him.
Because of Charles and his war, he had to give into despair.
Lelouch had to end the existance of the corrupt britanian empire, And in the end he gave his soul so that world would become the place Nanaly deserved, a world Shirley deserved.

He was the person who carried all his grief and lies to the very end. Think of what happened around Lelouch: can any of us still carry on?
That's what I feel in this song, what Lelouch buried inside him, but showing in key moments of the anime: his human side. The private student; the faithful brother; the cold strategist; the revolutionary; seen as a killer; seen as a hero; a liar. Al the complexity is what made him a memorable character.
