MSX - SD Snatcher - file 01: J.U.N.K.E.R. headquarters

Gillian Seed arrives for his first day at work at J.U.N.K.E.R. HQ. But it's not going to be a desk job; Gillian is teamed up with his new colleague Jean Jack Gibson, an experienced investigator with the agency, who will show Gillian the ropes. Their first assignment is to check out hostile robot activity at the harbor area.

At the office Gillian learns that Jamie, his ex-wife, now also works with J.U.N.K.E.R. as a medical assistant. Gillian and Jamie suffer from the same amnesia and have no recollection of their time together, so they decided to divorce. Jamie will play a crucial role in the plot of this game.

Notice how the medical robot resembles Robby The Robot, an iconic figure from the movie "The Forbidden Planet" and other popular 1950's scifi flicks.

We also get introduced to Gillian's navigation device (or 'navi'), Metal Gear Petite. Given that the maker of the Metal Gear Solid saga, Hideo Kojima, made this game and the prequels to the MGS games originate on the MSX, the reference is no surprise.

I need help with something. I can't save because it says insert USERDISK. I have all 3 disks in English. I've tried every one, and I don't think anything is happening. PLEASE HELP!?!?! By the way, I am using the blueMSX emulator.

Insert a blank disk image. If you don't know how: copy one of the .dsk files you have there, 'insert' it and start up with MSX Basic. Then type "call format" and press enter. Follow the instructions (double density disk). Now you have a blank disk image to use in the game.

It was a shame for most of my friend who didn't had a 2 side floppy disk drive.

(Had to lend mine for a while). ;)

its one of the parodies konami did at the time, it was very popular with games like gradius snatcher and rpg games. the parodies were usually SD with penguins and moai statues in them...

I tought this version was made cause the original snatcher on the MSX was to spacious, so they couldnt fit in part 3 in the original(wich is included in the sega CD version and in SD-Snatcher), but then again, ik could be wrong.

I played Snatcher on the Sega Cd and... this is so funny! They're all cutesy-fied and it feels more cheerful.

The thing you really have to understand is that this game was meant to be more of a parody, not following along with the serious nature of Snatcher. I still think it's a wicked game and a lot of fun.

Sega CD > MSX this time. Just can't hold a candle to the interactive film feel that the sega cd provides.
