@klocka88 That's because Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian (the languages spoken by the "Vikings") are related to English. The closest language to English is Frisian, but the other Nordic languages still have a number of mutually intelligible words (kom = come, är = is, be, are, jag = I). For example, the crone: "Vem skall bli den första mannen?" is "Who will be the first man?"

I had the impression, maybe I'm wrong, that the depiction of the vikings wasn't meant to be entirely accurate but rather to reflect the cultures that the vikings produced and the languages they produced, and so it made homage to several of them.
