Duxford Flying legends crash 2011 061.MOD

This is the first of two crashes at the show. The Triplane as it lands wobbles and then nose dives. Thankfully not much damage to the plane and the pilot was fine, both will live to fly again.

The P51 did not explode. It just fell down and crashed.

Plane crashes are no "firework" in any case. I suggest that you put some firework into your rear end, ignite it and enjoy the exitment by your own.

@Weibkoln: More than just the last few seconds it seems. I postualte he had either a stroke or a coronary and THAT is why the P51 went out of control tearing off the trim tab. In service the P51's sufferred far worse combat damage, total loss of control surfaces etc., whilst under greater loads than racing (full combat armament) yet very offend returned to the U.K. all all shot to Hell. That trim tab isn't the reason this went in.

@Fritztoons Indeed the P51 lost its elevator trim tab, and the pilot was not visible anymore for the last 3seconds..

Like the pilot was not in the plane anymore...

-Some people say that the pilot his chair broke, cause of the movement which the airplane made when the elevator trim tab dissapeared...

I saw another Triplane that did this, I saw it happen ...they are heck to land with any crosswind. It's not if you are going to have a landing incident with a triplane, it's when.
