  • David Bowie was going to play the Pied Piper to begin with, but dropped out to write some songs instead. He backed out at the last minute, and all of the costumes had been produced to his measurements. It was fortunate he and Eric Idle were of a similar build, as Idle stepped in as a favour to Duvall.

  • @echeetah it funny you mention Jim Henson's Storyteller, because I think Idle kinda looks like Jim in the opening with the long hair and the beard.

  • My favorite episode from the whole series.

The music is beautiful and haunting. I wish a soundtrack was made from these episodes.

  • @hectorbolshevik I'm sorry, I don't kno where u can find it. I found it in a lit book composed of different historical poems, and it said the Brothers Grimm also wrote a version of it, but like u I can't find it ANYWHERE.

  • @JakobDailes: Do you know where I can find the Grimm's original version? It wasn't in Grimm's Fairy Tales :(

I tell you though, The Wolf and the Seven Kids was really a jaw dropper. Were they a family of goats or La Cosa Nostra....LOL.

  • @hectorbolshevik I think the Grimms didn't change anything, so u might not be in for much. :(

I agree about the Grimms' originals tho. }:)

  • Mr. Idle did an amazing job as the narrator and Pied Piper. He truly knows how to bring his characters to life. :)

  • I know this is not supposed to be funny, but I couldn't help laughing, probably because it's Eric Idle in the main role.

  • Where can I find the Grimm's version? I looked in Grimm's Fairy Tales and to my shock it wasn't there. I'm enjoying the dark, gruesome, and original versions of fairy tales of the Grimm brothers that have been coverted into those sweet stories for children we know of; and I'd like to read this version of the Pied Piper, which was always my favorite fairy tale.

  • Holy crap, I forgot about this episode! I remember really loving the atmosphere with the music.
