I'm up early and composing. Everyone's probably noticed I have less time nowadays for composing . This is an orchestrated version of the Death Egg zone music from Sonic 2. I hated this zone music. I hate it a little more now and transcribing it was hard work (the jingles on the pizzicato/glockenspiel are accurate, by the way). I wanted to stay close to the original. It's around an hours work and so it's a bit messy and doesn't sound as good as it could.

  • Not bad, but you should really lower the average reverb since it really drowns the music as it is. Death egg was in space. So a little less reverb, and it'll be really good!

  • @vstman Thanks. There's actually very little reverb on this piece (literally ~5% wet algorithmic). It's the stage/far orchestra mics and so there'll naturally be a bit of ambience. I believe the dischordal string sustains underneath everything might be causing the drowning out effect - they need reducing in dynamics a little

  • Why does the S3&K jingle play at the very end? This is a Sonic 2 song.

  • @videogamer810

I'm not sure, actually.I just felt like adding a little extra jingle to the end and I've not done any S3&K remixes yet.

  • weegee and tb liked this

  • I like the little addition at the end that does the Introduction to Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. I guessing this might hint to you possibly doing a rendition of that too?

Any way, music sounded great, the Death Egg in Sonic 2 was one of my least favorite themes in the game, but you made it a very good song.

It added the kind of Imperial sense to it that and evil villian like Dr Robotnic would have.

Keep up the good work. :D

  • Loved the theme at the end, threw me for a humorness loop

  • This is the devil's music.

  • @dummeh I always assume it was a lil nod, as Sonic 2 you dnt really get chance to take in the song (as the level cut short due to early production changes), and Sonic 3 was when Death Egg got its first real Zone Level, but obviously sonic 3 didnt have same song. which Death Egg theme you prefer 2 or 3? (don't worry i have no preference)

  • imagine if sonic 2 had gone full term with development rather than being push quickly how epic it wud have been. would have made sonic CD and sonic 3 lil uneasy with topping it

  • I love how you made it feel very mechanical

  • I have the same BUMP when I was 4 y.o. on the old big TV . Thanks !!

  • Do you have a version of this without the ending? It's kind of jarring when the song is part of a music collection.

  • @dummeh

Will you ever be working on some?
