@Nimno74 WHAT...Mingus and Duke had a great relationship. Duke admired Mingus playing greatly. It's just that Mingus wasn't a good fit for the Duke Ellington Orchestra....Mingus said in his biography that Duke fired him with a smile and wished him luck. Wasn't really any hard feelings to it. Mingus just clashed with other people in the band like Juan Tizol.

Once i read (in the "Charles Mingus Live at Montreux" booklet) there were no recordings witnessing mingus' collaboration with duke ellington. today I found 'money jungle' in the library. It made my day! Three pure geniuses in the same room......

Excelente jamás había oído a Duke Elington tocando con Mingus y Roach, tal vez no tienen el bop rápido como ellos, pero esta pieza habla de que gran música hizó la junta de estos genios.

duke is mostly identified with big band but you get to see another side of him here ... pure genius. mingus and roach aren't too shabby either
