I thought a positive + negative = a positive. Is that correct? Because you have written the positive (+5) then under it you have written negative(-10) equaling to a negative(-5). How is that correct if a positive + negative = positive. I am not sure if that is correct but I am going to browse the web for the correct answer. Thank You for your video.

@vanessaprz77 okay, this is very tricky, but correct. When you are adding a positive signed number to a negative one, just subtract the abs value of the larger number from the smaller one and keep the sign of the larger number, e.g., -7 + 2 = 7 - 2 = 5 = -5. If both neg and pos are together, e.g., 7 + (-2), you are still subtracting their abs values and keeping the sign of the biggest number--7 + (-2) = 7-2 = 5 = 5
