Laughter like that while an artist is quite obviously sharing/pouring out his heartfelt, painful emotions can only be explained as discomfort due to a lack of maturity. Damien is a true professional to ignore it and he must realize that while some people cannot allow themselves to fully appreciate what he is expressing others still do.

My God! The laughs just make me mad! Damien is absolutley brilliant and I don't understand what the hell was so funny about what he sang. It just shows that humanity is going down fast.

@11eggs I totally agree. Whether it's deliberate, his delivery of the song in a live setting always includes a pause that adds comedic effect to the "accidental babies" line. And like you said, there is nervous laughter every time. Every time.

I was at this particular show. I'm a long time fan, but like many people in the audience I had never heard this song, and for whatever reason -- the tone of the show just prior to this song, his audience banter, etc. -- when he got to the chorus it seemed as if it was a tongue-in-cheek song. I too laughed. You had to be there. Of course, after repeated listens, it's a truly crushing, emotional song, but at that time, in that room, it came off as funny. It was not meant to be disrespectful.

I totally love this song. Actually i was looking for it today because i felt like listening to it. I see there are a lot of ppl here that commented on the laughs in the middle of the song. I have to say i was at this concert, and I have an explanation for this: It was the first time that most of ppl there were listening to the song, and at the point where he sings "have accidental babies", I guess that none of us were expecting that phrase, that kind of "cuts" the dramatism and that's why...
