Oh God....haven't we all had a 'Willoughby' in our life....and haven't we all felt just like this....I love this movie
-
I cried a lot with Marianne´s story and I know how it feels. I wished I was like Elenor. She suffered but in the end she had release to her hope. Poor Marianne, she had more pain by marrying a man she didn´t love. That´s awful and unfair!

@xian19sarah the point is, can we control our feelings? no, we cannot. I think that romantic love is a very dangerous risk, you can win or loose. And it´s awful when you loose. It hurts too much.

High quality scene, great acting by Kate Winslet, the scenery is quite beautiful and melancholy, and well directed. This is a work of art, this is what art SHOULD ALWAYS be.
-
I think it took going through the heartbreak of Willoughby for Marianne to mature and appreciate someone like Colonel Brandon.
-
We all think that when we break up with our lover, he/she is irreplaceable.
Believe me they are not. Not when you find someone better.

this scene has to be the saddest (but at the same time your secretly a little happy inside because now colonel brandon has his chance) but marianne is one of my favorite austen characters with emma and lizzy, and i know some people are like "why marianne she so immature?" but shes so passionate and lively andromantic, and she grows throughout the story to a more mature sensible person which is what i love about her :) besides her passion and her good heart beat out immaturity any day

i know tht distraught feeling as well. Me n my ex always used to go to a canal place near to where he lived, and when we broke up i went back there 1 day, completly random, just to reflect. I'm over him completly now but i can identify to why she goes to look back

This is such a heartbreaking scene~

So that they actually have a reason for being upset.
I also cry because I also fell in love with a man like Willoughby and I also thought he loved me but he never did and I know how she feels but at least out of her heartache there is new love and a new man for her who is the right man.
I could write a book like this based on my own life- so books can actually resemble real life and the characters in them I can really identify with in all ways.
It is foolish to fall in love with someone who does not love you.

It is foolish.... but sometimes it happens, unconsciously, and it's an attempt to learn not to fall in love like this...(((
