Video showing the La Crosse BC-700 battery charger for AA and AAA NiCd NiMH batteries. It has user selectable 200, 500, 700 mAh charging rate. Each cell can be charged individually. The charger will display the charging rate, battery voltage, charging time, battery capacity. It can also be set to discharge a battery before it charges. At the end of the Full charging cycle, it will go to trickle charge to maintain the charge until you are ready to use it.

  • Theyr'e coming out with high capacity 2500mah AA's ... I take it it doesn't do a very good job on those?

  • @therandomdot First off, a lot of those high current batteries are overrated and often under delivers. Secondly, the charger should not have any problem charging it because it will put out a constant charge with the specified current until it finishes the charging cycle and detects the delta drop in current once charge is complete.

  • For christ's sake, AAA don't fit in ?!??!

  • @SOULFLYSI AAA fit in the lower bottom set of contacts (below the AA slot).

  • sorry for my stupid question, but what's trickle charge? Thanks.

  • @orestesdd No such thing as stupid question. Trickle charge is a low current charge that kicks in after the battery is fully charged, so it does not overcharge your battery but at the same time keeps the battery at full capacity. That's the bad thing about cheapo chargers, if it's charging rate is 500mA, it will keep pushing 500mA to the battery even when it's fully charged and many times, this will ruin the battery.

  • @dial2fast Thanks for explaining this term. Now I know I can throw away my old cheapo charges since I bought the bc-1000 model which is being shipped by amazon in a few days.

  • @dial2fast Thanks. Still I am undecided if I should buy the bc-700 or bc-1000 model.

  • @orestesdd If I remember (from a long time ago) the higher model allows for even higher current charging so you can charge it in less time.

  • Any idea what the difference is between bc-700 and bc-1000 models? Anyone? Thanks.
