  • is it painful do you feel it when they do the surgery

  • @kyleishesh No,dairrien was asleep thw entire time, the worst of his pain was the first 3 days or so...after a bout a week he was able to get up and walk around more easily....

  • I have kyphosis and i am 18 yrs old and my surgery is supposed to take place in June at the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia,PA

  • @money7373 Have you had your surgery yet????

  • im happy for you Dairrien i really am. i hope that you are well now. Physicaly and emotionaly.

Im 19 years old and ive had it since i can remember and i just found out what i had.

Im kinda scared and dont know what to do about it. Does it hurt and how is your back now does it hurt at all now. Like i guess i have kind of learned how to force my posture to look right and stuff. Do you happen to know if it can do any problems to your brain too. I have never talked to anyone about it before.

  • @chrishogan1000 Dairriens Back is alot better,no longer slumping,or hunchbacked.... Ummmm Dont know if it can do anything to your brain or not? Dairrien does have a condition called Empty Cella Syndrome,But its not related to his spine condition.... He has some back spasms now and then,But nothing like the pains he had before surgery,....

  • That's one amazing correction you have there Dairrien. Great video too - an inspiration for others who face this surgery. And a nice tribute to your Mom who was there every step of the way!

  • your shoulders went back like normal?

  • Wow, what a wonderful video! This is Carls mom commenting. Carl had his fourth spine surgery in feb. 2011, and sadly his surgery did not have the outcome we had hoped for. During his osteotomy the doctor nicked his spinal cord because the spine is so bent from scoliosis and kyphosis. Carl is in a wheelchair and is doing PT and OT at TIRR in Houston three times a week. We are praying that he will get movement back. I have also gone through this myself when i was a child. Tks for sharing!!!

  • man, i had to go though this same surgery about 5-6 months ago and it was living hell. the actual surgery part was perfectly fine, but it was the recovery that was horrendous. even though that was the worst time of my life(so far), i'm very thankful to Shriners for completely this surgery :) very glad to see you're doing well!

  • @rshunterrs hi my friend...do you know how much degrees someone must have in order to do the surgery??

  • @1101CigarLounge yeah it isn't like scoliosis only surgery can correct it i would find a doctor who has done this surgery in particular before and see the options, i have surgery in march to correct my 89 degree curve and my surgeon was the best i mean i thank god for him everyday what he did for me changed my life. But 82 degrees only answer is surgery.

  • Respond to this video... i had a 89 degree curve and had surgery in march, if you want to ask me a few questions feel free i am doing great since then.

  • I have surgery back in March 10th then in march 15th i know excatly what he went throw tecnhinally im still recovering but it was hard, i had a 8 hour operation then 5 days later had the 17 hour one, who ever is thinking of surgery be sure it's over 60 degrees and you really need it i have a 89 degree but just under 7 months and i'm doing awesome please feel free to message me honestly it's hard but after the pain from surgery goes away its worth it.

  • hi guys I am 20 years old and i have a kyphosis of about 63 degrees...the doctor told me to wait...do you know if i must do this operation?? please i am so anxious...if somebody knows, please tell me...thank you!!

  • I have kyphosis and am in so much incredible pain. Did the surgery fix the pain? And why did he has to be on a breathing tube? Thank you if you can answer these questions.

  • i had the same back problem, i had to go through surgery when i was just a little baby, i know how you feel, lots of luck man.
