He played these Valses in his last ever concert at the Wigmore Hall on 31 May 1976 - exactly 35 years ago. I WAS THERE!
Next day, Max Harrison wrote in The Times: " [they] were the epitome of civilized refinement, and were aristocratic in the real, almost forgotten sense of the word. The smallness of the Wigmore Hall heightened the impact and the warmth of Mr Rubinstein's playing."
