Co-authorship among the Information Visualization researchers

This visualization shows the research collaboration in the field of Information Visualization for 1995-2002. Each researcher (professor, postdoc, phd student, etc) is a node and two are connected if they publish a paper together.

Researchers are arranged into 3 spheres according to their degree centrality, i.e., the number of connections. The outer sphere has the researchers with the largest number of connections; the middle sphere are the ones with intermediate number of connection, and the inner sphere are the ones with the least number of connection.

Many of the important researchers in the field are on the out sphere. Many small closed groups appear on the inner sphere.
