Jim and Jessica show you (and Bonnaroo ers) how to grow your own food in small spaces on short money. Perfect for a balcony garden, urban garden, or just that one rocky patch of sun that you can't plant in.

  • Well, you need something pretty rigid to hold up the soil. I would be afraid that cotton fabric would sag and stretch between the cups. Anything strong with holes will work!

  • I really don't get the appeal of these things. Do we really need to use all that plastic for a square foot and a half of garden space? Is it really that hard to remember to water a square foot and a half of garden space? btw theres not enough room in that container for all those plants.

  • I love you hat! Could you please share where you got it?

  • Thank you for sharing this info. I am excited to try this out in the next few days!

  • the music is really loud and annoying.

  • I have been looking for a self -watering container and yours is the easiest to follow ! I will do it my own pretty soon ! thanks for the video tip!! :)

  • Im going to try this for growing lettuce and cilantro next summer. I always have trouble with them bolting to seed when it gets so hot here and I think this will solve the problem of them not getting enough water to self irrigate in the heat of the day. Thanks for the great idea.

  • 'inverted plastic cups' is a great approach to simple earth box. good job!

  • That is a very awesome system. Thank you!

  • Great idea. Instead of using that net, will a piece of cotton rag works?
