@MARTINSMITH1001 The stern launching system was not successful , probably because you were dropping the torpedo into churning water with only primitive course setting+holding systems in the fish to stop it " Running wild " and I believe that ramp was removed fairly early on , which must have made for more room below to wrestle with the engines - the vestigal remains of the ramp is the space between those two big boxes on deck aft .
But that original layout meant she only ever had 2 engines .

the petrol engines today would cost £10,000 to fill up the tank ,in the war they would fill every other day ,

I USE TO BUILD BOATS LIKE THIS -WITHOUT TORPEDO TUBES- BASIC HULLS WITH DECKING- HELM- ENGINE STRINGERS- OPEN FRAMING, A- 3 MAN TEAM OF US COULD PUT OUT A HULL IN ABOUT 6 WKS ; I'M CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR PROPERTY CLOSE TO WATER AND GOING TO SET UP SHOP;; BELIEVE IT OR NOT BOATS ARE NOT REALLY THAT DIFFICULT TO DESIGN OR BUILD;;IT'S TRING TO APPLY OWNERS ORDER / WISHES / WANTS THAT MAKES IT ROUGH !!! GREAT LOOKING LINES AND VERY IMPRESSIVE SOUND; RR

@tpvalley it has a turbo

Great to see it, I used to play on this boat as a child when my dad owned it, its alot smaller than I remember it.
has this been re-engined?
I can hear a turbo or is it just me?
tpvalley 1 year ago
@tpvalley . yes of course, the originals were petrol. I doubt what you can hear is turbos at those tick-over rpm.

yes on larger diesels u can hear the turbos even at idle, my main question was trying to establish whether it had diesels fitted or not?

oh right .... well they're dirty great Cummins diesels. Originals were Isotta Fraschini 57litre petrols .. three of them, then Perkins and currently the Cummins 600HP each.
