BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - Battle Creek police are treating a 3-year-old's death as a homicide. Investigators are waiting for the results from an autopsy.
Police are not saying much about the death of 3-year-old Baylee Stenman. They are labeling the case a homicide because it is routine when a cause of death is not known initially.
24 Hour News 8 spoke with Mike Jeannette, a man who says he is the child's father. Jeannette says he had been fighting to have involvement in his daughter's life since she was born. Today, he regrets not having much success.
The only connection Mike Jeanette says he had with his biological daughter are pictures her mother sent two years ago. He was still trying to get regular visitation with the 3-year-old when he learned last week she was in a coma.
"My sister came over and told me when I got out of work. She had found out through the grapevine," Jeannette said.
