Can I Make Bionicle With This?
-
can i use maya to import the leocad files?
-
so i can do all of this with more updated blender versions?
-
@LEGOblender you're probably right - I really should take a look myself (c4d imports 3ds stuff so I expect that's my answer). I guess I was just hoping for someone to hold my hand through the process. It's crazy how few people are doing cgi lego! BTW That Star Wars vid is awesome - oh and I'm enjoying your podcast; listening to all the old interviews - you'll one talented guy!

Is it possible to do this with just blender?
Roboticist002 1 year ago
@Roboticist002 Yes, it is possible. But that would involve you creating every single brick. If you want to do that, have at it! Other wise, you need LDraw.

do you know if I can do the same in C4D?
conradslater 1 year ago
@conradslater I know very little about C4D, so couldn't say. But I have noticed that most CGI programs have similar capabilities, just different ways of going about it.
Having said that, Blender is free!

@Mutuceba I'll cover this in the next video, but for those "following along live" and can't get it. What you need to do is actually install the previous version of blender (blender 2.49) and copy and paste the script into the folder C:\Program Files\Blender248a\.blender\scripts
Then when you need to use the script, you first open up Blender 2.49 and import, then save and open with 2.5. I recommend using LeoCad for most models. I will go into detail in the next video.
