@josephjrobison its in indicator for fitness level. it measures the amount of oxygen in liters a person can consume per minute. the higher the better but the average male is 46-53 L O2 per minute. to give you an example, lance armstrong was measured at 83 L O2 per minute. MORE oxygen = more energy and more work you can do

One of the best benefits of knowing your VO2 max, aerobic threshold and your anabolic threshold is knowing how hard you are and should be training. The test results will help you achieve your goals by telling you where you are most efficient, where you can step it up a bit and where you might need to cut back to overtraining.
