I just got my new woodbody Triolian (model #900) from Republic Guitars in Texas yesterday. Let me start by saying WOW! This is one helluva guitar for not much money! The fretwork is even better than on my Tricone! It has a nice, tight, resonation, is easy to place and has a very nice volume to it.

Here are the specs:
Vintage style neck stick construction...sapele wood body...round mahogany neck...rosewood fret board...hand spun aluminum Continental cone...quality open geared tuners...dot position markers...adjustable trussrod...rosewood biscuit...maple saddle...burgundy finish...diamond coverplate...1 7/8" bone nut...25 1/2" scale...20" body length...10 1/4" upper bout...14 1/4" lower bout...3" body depth...12 frets to the body.

And the featherweight case is great too! I use one for my Tele when I tour and it's survived baggage handlers from London to Melbourne and everywhere in between!

Frank & Co. @ Republic Guitars have done it again!

Be sure to check them out and tell them Memphis Mike sent ya! ;-)

  • Mind if I ask how much these things cost? Do you think if you upgraded to a National Hot Rod Cone that it would then have that bark some people think is missing? I think it sounds pretty darn good!

  • @thmpick They run around $250 - $375, depending on where ya get them. I've been thinking about upgrading the cone...just haven't had the time to seriously research. I think it sounds pretty good myself (thanks for saying it though)...but I still prefer my tricone. I've always been a tricone kinda guy at heart. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi Has she opened up a bit now??

  • @sawabojo A bit. Still has a nice tight tone. I use it mostly for open G tuning stuff...sounds great for it! In a live setting, it could have a little more bark...but that's what microphones are for! LOL

  • @hastyfishbone thx i ask cause im just about to order myself one.........

  • @sawabojo For the price, you can't beat it! Enjoy!

  • I hear what you are saying & have had the same experience. Incredible value no doubt. For me, the National has the edge for overall tone. Not saying a Republic doesn't have amazing tone of it's own. I've always loved that National sound, but Republic is quickly closing the gaps and issues with the $300 guitars. I've been looking at a wood body Dobro "Hula." Those guys are a lot less $ than a comparable National, but much better built than the Republics. That's just my 2 cents worth. Thanks

  • @thmpick Yep, it too is a Republic. I was checking out an old 30s National at the same time and for the money, I couldn't go National on that one! LOL A third of what they wanted for the National and it gives me just the sound I want!

  • Where did you see one for $250? I want one for that $, and they can keep the foam rubber case.

  • sweet... like what you do....especially the one in Open G
