here's the song that huckle berry hound used to sing. performed by lazy joe and his wildwood gang. at first i thought oow, that's just another of them old american tunes but when you listen closely you'll hear that it's actually a story.
This is such an awesome song :) When I have a kid, I want it to be a lullabye, but it'd be happier like: Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Clementine, you were lost and gone forever, til we found you Clementine!!!
@Toni4044 yes it's indeed a gr8 song! I believe it's written long ago, based on a true story. people wrote these songs to make sure these stories are never to be forgotten, it's national herritage. (that's what i think)
@royraaijmakers You are right, most true American Folk Music tell a story, usually tragic. '49er refers to the California Gold Rush of 1849. Many of the melodies come straight from Irish Folk Music, a little Scottish, and German/Austrian also. It is a good way to preserve the stories, and times of an era gone by, when there was no other way than folk lore.
