I do not care what the Hebrew Bible says though. Besides, hate crimes legislation does not apply just to gay people. Unfortunately, hate crimes legislation also protects these particular Christians in order for them to have the freedom to express their bigotry. So, these Christians should not complain.

It's really quite simple. Occupational religionists (or "ministers", if you insist) can flame the passions of intolerence and rake in more from the collection plates. It has nothing to do with "godliness" or "virtue", and everything to do with increasing the incomes of professional christers by prodding the sheeple to drop more money into the plate. THAT is why they oppose hate crime laws.
