Trains at Birmingham New Street train station on 22/8/11 (Part 1)

Part 1 - This video includes several trains arriving and departing at Birmingham New Street train station on 22/8/11 between half past 1 and half past 3 in the afternoon. The station is best known for its squeaky tracks and it 12 long platforms with a variety of trains arriving and departing every minute, serving different parts of the UK. I decided to film these videos from platforms 4A and 5, as this is the longest platform situated in the middle of the station and isn't underground, meaning I could get the best view possible. I decided not to go too far out because security spots you there and tell you to stop filming. I had recently arrived from Coseley station, and was heading back to Wolverhampton station after doing a lot of train spotting for the day. The station is situated mainly underground right in the centre of Birmingham opposite the Bullring shopping centre, underneath the Pallasades shopping centre and near the Odeon cinema and the Rotunda apartments. The station is also within a 5 minute walk to Birmingham Moor Street train station and within a 10 minute walk to Birmingham Snow Hill train station. As the station has so many different lines, it is surrounded by a range of nearby stations and is situated on the West Coast Main Line. The trains that operate at this station serve main destinations such as Glasgow Central, Edinburgh, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street, Bournemouth, London Euston, Birmingham International, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Northampton, Holyhead and Aberystwyth.
