the reason catholic priests do not marry has to do with the time of octavian, where merova was gaining power through marriage and divorce and her line was also trying to get sons to join the church and gain power, not only secularly, but religiously as well. Pope Octavian was installed in this method, and he was killed, dragged across the streets of rome, and then burned and thrown into the river... Afterwards, women started having less rights, and men in the church couldn't marry.

Ridiculous. The reason is documented history - priests were stopped from getting married to keep the popes from continuing to pass the wealth & power down to their son, and so on. It was kept within families. It's stupid and damaging to deny normal human biological behavior. It causes such damage. To call it a gift is just twisted.

I think it's ridiculous. For God to want His closest people (the priests) to not pass on their genes and love with a family of their own seems like a man-made idea and definitely not something God would want.
