I noticed that too-- this album really seems to have some slight experimentation in it.
"The Great Divide" is such an atypically upbeat and optimistic song for VNV Nation. The lyrical content is of a more familiar VNV strain, not to mention his instantly recognizable vocals would make any song sound like a VNV Nation song.
I certainly don't mind it, of course. It's a great, catchy song, but it's just an unexpected turn for the band.
