And I think we all know how that path ended. Sorry for being a mood killer here but I wouldn't exactly call a non-stop partying 14-15yr on drugs and alcohol a "happier" time.

If anything, I find this flashback very clever. You can see all the seeds of destruction planted right before they bloom. Its very good character development and very bittersweet.

Its interesting to read how ppl want these characters to go back to this 'happier' time. Yes this is the sea before the storm, and I do enjoy how carefree they are. However, in spite of how innocent everything seems to be, it is anything but. Its just as dysfunctional, it just hasn't reared its ugly head yet. Blair, though recovering, is still in danger of relapsing in her bulimia, Nate is falling in love with S right under B's nose, and Serena's is on an irresponsible and destructive path.
