An international convention on endangered species currently meeting in Doha is gearing up to vote on whether to ban trade in Atlantic bluefin tuna. In Japan, where most of the global catch is consumed, the possibility of a ban is looming large over the country's culinary culture -- and Tokyo's famous fish market in particular. Duration: 02:06

  • You don't need to give MORE education to the Japs. One of the most educated cultures in the whole world. They know whats up. THEY DON'T CARE!! Its like banning the US from foreign oil. Good Luck.

  • Save the Bluefin tuna from imminent extinction! Save all marine life! We cannot blame anyone but ourselves the consumers. Eat less seafood or only Buy seafood with a MCS label. We are overexploiting our ocean's precious resources.sign the petition for marine reserves on the greenpeace website! Everyone can change the world ,including YOU! Thumbs up to keep this at the top

  • sadly, it's too late for the bluefin tuna. The only BF brought to any markets worldwide now are nothing more than babies that weigh less than a couple hundred pounds. Now add in the BP oil spill and it's lights out on the breeding grounds of the BF. The fish mongers themselves now admit all the big BF are GONE. It takes a BF too long to reach sexual maturity that they end up being in a sushi roll before they can even reproduce. So long bluefin, it was fun while it lasted.

  • do they think they care what happens in 15 years from now on when they probably not even gonna be there? U say they are stupid, but this is the same trend that occurs in ever nation, not just Japan.

  • god... the japanese are soo stupid when comes to international bands.

whaling ban, they hunt them anyways and now,

    blue fin tuna

If their people have half a brain they would know that what there eating going to make the bluefin go extinct and they won't have any bluefin to eat in the future, if we put a ban now, there will be tuna for future generations

  • sorry charlie

  • Osakana ga arimasen?! Maguro daisuki desu!
