Here's another animation cycle by the great Preston Blair, the "sniff", traced and elaborated in Synfig. My intention was to create a longer vid, with other characters/music and so on, but I think I'm never going to finish it. So that's why it ends abruptly.
All I did was playing on the process of the drawing/painting itself, following the same method proposed by Dooglus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djk4B_GiN-Q (drawing effect) and using the wonderful particle template provided by Genete http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJV3xMP24fc (for the "magic effect" and the spray).

  • Does it have frame by frame animation options?

  • @Bobman4671 In any frame you can keyframe a bunch of different parameters (position, rotation, alpha amount...) of any single point/region/object + set the type of interpolation you prefer, if that is what you mean with your question.

  • Does SynFig let you import art you've done and scanned?

  • @ChrisLeuchtturm Yes, it does, but don't expect it to be able to interpolate 2 images and create an animation from two stills: you have to trace your artwork as shown in some videos called "Anime in Synfig Studio", or, if you prefer, create a sort of cut-out animation (there's a tutorial on the site). Happy New Year Chris!

  • Cool! Amazing! With wich Tool in Synfig did you draw? I've got Synfig since yesterday and I don't understand, how to draw :(

  • Oohhh, okay.....with a title like 'Pluto Takes Life', I had expected this animation to have a very unfortunate ending....

  • omg its so cute

  • @IntarwebUser ikr?! I FAIL at drawing on the laptop/computer!!!

  • БРАУН xD

  • I never thought of drawing through the critter and then erasing the extra lines afterwards. That might be a good way for me to practice some character studies. Neat trick!
