This was definitely the most powerful thunderstorm I've seen this Summer so far. The lightning was frequent and powerful in nature and the thunder was, well you can hear it in the video. I captured quite a few cracklers, including one vicious blast of thunder (you can barely see the electromagnetic pulse on the camera with that lightning around 5:31). You can also here the rain in the background. Flooding and power outages were reported all about. The South Shore and the West Island got hit pretty hard.

All the dynamics were there: Huge amounts of CAPE, plenty of moisture/humidity, and the Sun made an appearance in the late afternoon, which really boosted instability. The storm advanced into the West Island of Montreal from the SW around 9:05 EDT, but could be seen perhaps as early as 8:50 P.M. in the distance.

  • yeah that was a crazy night i was on my computer then i heard a strong bang also near my house a lighting bolt hit a pole that smashed a car right in front of my house lol anyway

  • Wow! What an experience! Where did this happen exactly?

    Thanks for the comment!

  • lol hehe were they protesting alot? Also did they get a fright from the 5:31 bang?

  • Yes, somewhat. It's a little amusing because they're the ones telling me to take precaution and yet they're also the ones taking the storm for granted. They were simply sitting there as if nothing was going on - like zombies then.

And yes, the bang at 5:31 scared them as it was so deafening. It served to alert them to the danger outside.:)

It's amazing as to how many people have this perception - they feel that nothing will ever happen to them.

  • Awesome footage, better than most.

Btw, who was that screaming? I also have a feeling you were telling the same person to get off the computer

  • That was my mom screaming in the background there. I was also the one telling both my father and brother to get off the computer - they just don't know the danger, it seems.

Thanks for watching and for your comment!
