Yeah your putting the flame far too close to the cigar. Keep it at a distance so you kind of toast it instead of burning it. What happens when you put the torch too close is creating a bad carbon flavor at the start of the cigar. Personal experience

Great review, but, try not to put the flame too close to the cigar. You don't want to scorch the wrapper, my friend. That will 9 chances out of 10 ruin the cigar.
