A short documentary on homelessness in Portsmouth UK. It has had to be cut up a bit for file size but is pretty much all there.

  • That was really interesting to see that i live in this town and go past these homeless people everyday...

They need more help. What a great video!

  • Thanks

yeah homeless people could do with more help, there not all that bad most of them.

p.s check out the user above LU1G1 he worked with me on the film and also has a great film under his profile about student life - its a very good short made entirely from still images.

    Cheers

  • that was bloody interesting. i pass those guys in the street everyday, and its really enlightening to actually hear them talk about themselves. can i ask are you students? or what was this done for?

  • Thanks for the feedback. Yeah im a student and had a small video unit to complete last semester so thought it would be interesting to talk to someone you wouldnt normally.

    Thanks

  • in the UK, you need a fixed address to get a back account by law, you generally need a bank to get paid... aside from that you need a fixed address for tax and national insurance which is required by law, by being homeless you can't legally work... kind of a pit fall in the whole system eh?

  • Yeah - with a prison record and no address you'd think it'd be easy wouldn't you? I'm surprised he isn't a chief executive. And he looks like he's over 40 - you'd think employers would be falling over themselves to give him a job.

  • May god save our glorious queen, maybe her majestic highness could rent you a room for 200 quid a night! And lesson your pain she is the defender of the faith hey what.

  • Thank you for highlighting what's going on in my old hometown 'Pompey'. I've lived abroad for 25 years and was back in Portsmouth last year for the 1st time in years - it felt strange to see the same problems as when I'd left in 1987 - like it hadn't moved on anywhere good in all those years. I'm fairly sure it was the bearded fellow I sat and had a chat with outside P+S train station - shared some Mexican fags I had with him - he seemed like a really decent bloke but without any possibilties.

  • Where is the govt? How can they turn away so blinfdly to one of the biggest problems in the UK?

  • Are you interested in joining WE ARE CHANGE Hampshire?

  • could help them but no beer any thing else that will keep them down they need a roof food cloths and jobs and Lots of compassion

  • @xxvatarxx Yes, it all seems to be designed to keep people in the worst situations of their life and prevent them from ever getting up again. Unless one is big shot manager or politic- then crime and good income comes naturally and with no concequences..

  • Yes, the ma is right, it would be much easier if one was alcoholic or drug adict or criminal- would get some help from government
