WRX vs Piece of crap Vw bug

Bracket Race with WRX. I drug this vw out of a backyard where it sat for 25 years, built a motor for it, and headed to the track. Didnt even wash it. I took it easy off the line getting used to raceing on 5 inch stock narrow vw tires.

How much power and what tranny you got? I got a 56 and a 69, thinking of getting serious power in the 69. Not sure how much a standard tranny will take, but aftermarkets cost a fortune... Really interested in hearing ur budget for this bug.

@1986SoWhat : I'm not sure how much power the engine is making. For the transmission, at first I was using a stock 6volt trans that was in the car when i got it. I ran alot of 13 second passes on it, but got worried when i found a few gear teeth on the drainplug magnet. I had it rebuilt using a superbeetle mainshaft, close ratio welded 3rd and 4th, and billet sidecover, sway a way axles. I got good used parts so affordable. You can run a stock trans but just dont powershift or get sideways.

ohyes247 needs to watch your first video. I love what you have done with this beetle. I was planning on taking the same idea with the new beetle I have. I love that sleeper style, and when you add the fact you left the "sitting" 25 year old faded/primered paint and "dog-pissed" wheels, even that much better when you beat them off the line and down the track. Keep it up. 2 thumbs up...well if I could like it twice I would...1 will have to do.
