  • This, I feel, is even better than the other, later recording.

  • @oldoperafan I agree!

  • He was the idol of José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti!

  • It's true!

  • Incomparable! TY for sharing.

  • @operafan85 Actualy, he was the idol of a generation.

  • Quite possibly the young Di Stefano was the most beautiful tenor voice ever and no-one comes close. Just a shame that it ended sooner than it could have done and he became a capsule in time during his own career - although here I am referring to the sheer beauty, as his singing continued to be awesome for a long time.

  • The most beautiful tenor voice i've ever heard :) it just flows so naturally .. there's none of that "pushed" or "strained" sound that many tenors have as a result of pushing the chest up. And PERFECT diction and interpretation - first time i've ever actually understood a word of this song. (everyone has their favourite tenor .. i think Di Stefano is rapidly becoming mine)

  • no one was greater than this... only the Battistini on youtube compares... only Villazon has the profoundly and stunningly sexual quality of di Stefano's voice, a sublimated libido ... something which, in a Florez, is destroyed by excessive technical control etc etc

  • @operafan85 And our idol as well!

  • FabDN41 I agree with you and of course Caruso was more a Spinto in his prime then Di Stefano who seemed more lyric then EC. I don't dare say anything about JB because his fanatic fans will flame your personality as well as your comment so I let it go but here Di Stefano takes the best one home! He clearly was the king of Italian songs in his prime.

  • Prima cantavano così... prima si cantava così.. oggi non si canta, si urla piuttosto .
