@twistedmadlard A few of my shipmates couldn't swim either in basic, but at cape may they have some of the best teachers the country has to offer, and you'll be getting paid to do it. So don't let that stop you.

Im willing to join the coast guard but the only thing that is holding me back is the boot camp... thats the only thing that is holding me back..
can anyone tell me whats the easiest way to go through one??

Yes the canteen check. At Great Mistakes (Navy Basic) one guy in our division was caught spitting green Skoal he somehow snuck through intake into his canteen, and a RDC made him drink it and he puked all over the grinder (blacktop).

LOL @2:00 the old "canteen check" routine. They pulled that one on us in the Air Force. I watched a guy drain a full 1 qt canteen on his head.
