THe Upright Row is one of the supreme upper body exercises! Shoulder and upper-back are prime movers here. If you have a rotator cuff problem...this exercise is a GO for you. Start light and focus on mobility. Try 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions at first.

  • I disagree Citizen6953. Firstly, not all rotator cuff issues have the same etiology. Secondly, one of the primary etiologies for (most) rotator cuff tendonitis involves instability issues in supraspinatus (the most anterior of the 4 muscles comprising the rotator cuff). The upright row is an exercise recruiting deltoids, trapezius, and rhomboids, as prime movers, and arm musculature, supraspinatus (another-external-rotator), as secondary movers. Supraspinatus's involvement is isometric here
