  • Lovely playing - Thanks!!

Quick question. I also play an Octave "thingy"...mine's a Moon with a 54cm scale length - a tad longer than your's. I'm struggling to find the right strings! Moon recommend 012/022/032/046 but I find the G and D too tense. Newtone sent me a set of 012/017/028/042 but they seem too "floppy" and don't stay in tune.... If I might ask - What are you using?

  • Thanks for the comment. I contacted Roger Bucknall (Fylde), who told me that my model was designed to take 13-24-36-52. As he is the man who should know, that's what I use. I've tried different brands but I found Newtone to be very good for my set up and they make sets to order so I stick with them.

Single guitar strings are relatively cheap, perhaps try a 30 and a 44 and see how they work before buying a set.

Good luck and have fun playing.

  • Nice sound and nice tune combination. Just one small thing - more emphasis on phrasing would really lift your playing - tends to slightly run away with itself (just my opinion) - enjoyed well done!

  • Thanks. I will work on my phrasing, I know there is plenty of room for improvement. It does seem better when I am more relaxed but I often have problems achieving that condition.

  • Hey, nice to meet you in Sidmouth yesterday and share a few tunes. Youtube has made you famous! Great playing by the way. Andrew and Jules.

  • Always good to meet people in the real world. Thanks for the comments and I hope you had a great festival. See you next year I hope.
