KWTV's Newsline 9 was the #1 10pm newscast in Oklahoma City at this time, a ranking they still hold today. Their newscasts originated from this newsroom studio from 1982-85. In this aircheck, we feature a multitude of camera angles, opens, bumps, and teases plus the weather from meteorologist legend Gary England. Patti Suarez, Roger Cooper, and John Snyder with sports man the desk. The music, set, and graphics are all home grown in Oklahoma City

  • @prcsouthwest that's why the Gary England Drinking Game is in existence today during tornado season, and I think you can google the rules

  • They did mentioned People's Court comes on after the news. In the movie Rainman (1988) at the farm house, I saw a KOCO channel 5 station ID when Raymond in peeping through the window when People's Court is about to start.

  • As long as Gary is at ch 9 they will be #1

  • That logo really punches you in the FACE. WOW!!!!!

  • very cool

  • Awsome. Check out the old school doppler.

    Gary England owns meteorology.

  • Probably...in fact, between March 1984 and sometime in 1985, his themes were on both KWTV and KTVY and thus in competition.

During that timeframe, KOCO probably used Hello News.

  • Dennis King Kyzer did the theme from KWTV Newsline 9 AND KTVY (now KFOR) News 4 Oklahoma.

Was Dennis King Kyzer a Oklahoma City native, who had his studios in OKC?

  • man does this take me back.

i remember as soon as gary got done with his report my sis and i would have to turn the tv off and go to sleep.

thanks for reminding me how old i'm getting. lol.

  • I really liked Patty, I remember when she left, I tried to watch 9 for news, but just had to move to 4, but i would always switch back to see Gary.
