I got this Marx item over 10 years ago, but the rotating ducks and some other things never worked. Since it was riveted together I never bothered to fix it, until now.

Enjoy the tips and the Gallery.

  • I don't believe in trailer queens! All my toys get played with. I have a few sets that are brand new NOS in box with shrink wrap, and I leave those sealed--not because I am in it for the money but because things are only brand new once. You would really hate what I did with my Robot Commando, which I will profile soon. With the Robot Commando, most of them out there have a failed, or failing, control box. I kept my original control box and wire, and created a whole new control box with

  • I wouldn't touch that at all, leave it and dont play it, it will lose it value if you start taking apart. Well i guess its too late :d

  • @DS1221 con't a steel rod control, on off switch, etc. Mine was broken, I drilled out the rivets the same way and took the robot completely apart. I remade a gear, and reinstalled it and the robot runs perfect. Now I have a new control box, new control wire, and it runs great. Fact is, I don't want a bunch of broken old toys that don't work. Everything I have works, from my Irwin "Dandy the Lion" to my race sets to my Hubley "Jungle Hunt". Everything works, because I am ToyKingWonder.

  • Great stuff Claude Kirschner was the voice of Marx and my f=good freind before he died. Keep up the great boomer work

  • Had to be careful "bolting" on the top cover since as you got close to bolting it shut, it could crack at the point particularly on the metal back top near the travel target.

  • Nice video. I also opened up and restored one of these. i had one many years ago as a kid and stupidly turned the winding key for the ducks the wrong way. The clutch broke and the key spun around in my hand and cut it and it started bleeding. The one I have now, I opened the gear box for the ducks and greased/oiled it up well, then I used bolts to put the cover back on. Boy does it spin now! Try WD-40 on the travel target threads and watch that think go!

  • Ahh great memories. When I was a kid I modified mine with extra batteries to increase the power to the point where the balls were damaging the targets. I also figured out how to open it up to slip in Lego targets that I could then destroy.
