Put some ice cubes under the earth, wait a couple of hours and watch trees growing out of it.
I don't remember how exactly we got there, but this was an idea of a classmate and me we had some weeks ago in arts class.

For Blender internal camera tracking I used a build of the GSoC 2011 Tomato Branch, and for wetmapping the Carrot Branch, which includes Dynamic Paint.
The water was created using the Blender 2.58 fluid simulator. Unfortunately, I had some struggles with transparency...

  • very cool, but it seems that the resolution of the water is not very high, right?

  • @RollerCoasterTycoonF The fluid resolution is 96. I didn't have much time for baking when i made this video because of school and other projects. This is also one reason why I put the word 'test' in the video title ;)

  • Definelty, great job. What I especially like, are the refractions. How did you do them?

The only thing that could be changed are the dark spots on the ground. They aren't supposed to fade out that fast...

  • @Tikvanaya Thanks! For the refractions I used the video as sky texture. Unfortunately, this doesn't work too well around the area where the water comes out of the ground.

You're probably right about the dark spots, but I don't have much time to do a re-render...

  • @TheWaplespunk i used some of my own shit, some bieber hair, and a hint a mayo. I worked fine :)

  • what fertilizer did you use? I cant get mine to grow! PLEASE HELP!!!

  • cool

  • @Lumpiluk Thanks, I was also wondering how you do refraction. So far, I've just avoided using glass or reflective materials! I shall give it a go.

  • Add some motion burrs will look more realistic.
