There is no elevator shaft from the 80th floor to the 1st floor so there was no direct route for fire to reach the 1st floor from the 80th floor. Long after the plane hit the 80th floor there were bombs going off in the lower floors. Thats why at 1:39 he says the 3rd floor stairway collapse beneath them on the way back down.

@sabr1868 when they're about to jump to their death, they don't think about jumping. before they jump, they're thinking about their families. the jump lasts 10 seconds and it's an instant death.
