Yes... we are doing this one more time! This time around I am going to be putting a lot more emphasis on pointing out the differences between the Arcade game and the SNES port. One of the biggest differences is the difficulty settings... and what a difference they make! You saw what the game is like on Easy... now witness Hard mode! Hard is brutal in all possible ways... Bullets move faster, bosses fire more bullets, bosses take longer to kill, and bosses have more minions... a LOT more minions! ...This is gonna be tough... Much to be expected, I made sure to get plenty of practice in before trying this run.

Now about the first stage... Female enemy types were removed ("Violence Against Women" censorship), the women that are seen with the player characters when leaving doors were made to look more normal and less like hookers (this pleases me), the player characters no longer come out the door drinking anything (removal of alcohol from the game)... I am only scratching the surface here. More changes on the actual stage itself... the pitch-forks were removed (Whyyyyy?! =T.T= ), a few enemies were removed, the bulls are all the same colour, and, of course, the flashing on-screen notifications were removed. All in all... stage 1 is pretty similar between the two versions, and the boss is more or less exactly the same.

Stage 2, on the other hand, is VERY different. Horse-back riding stages in the SNES port are a lot less exciting... There are a ton less enemies, you now have to destroy all enemies in a wagon to make it explode instead of shooting off the wheel, many horse-back enemy types were removed (most notably, the ones who give you power-ups)... Overall there are a ton less enemies in this stage, and gameplay is much more boring. The boss is still the same though... and I love this stage's boss, so that is good. =n.n=

Bonus games are the same, they just tend to move a bit slower in the SNES version to making hitting them all with just one player much more possible.

Enjoy!~

  • Excellent port! Has the intro from the arcade game, all the characters, the stages are the same in the arcade too, and it also has all the cut scenes, which is what the Genesis version did not have! Yeah, what was that bullshit they were saying about "Genesis does" again?! DOES NOT APPLY, SEGA FANBOYS!!!!
