How to (FIX Red Screen of Death/ Unbrick/ Downgrade) for PS3

Here is a tutorial on how to fix the RSOD, Unbrick or downgrade your PS3 from version 3.55 or lower. (Mine was on 3.55)
Before doing anything, IF you CAN, back-up your things first because you will lose all your data.
You will need a TI-84 calculator or a modded PSP.
Just follow everything I do in the video in the exact order and you should have your PS3 running in no time.
If you got your PS3 running it might say its on version 3.56 but its actually on version 3.41.

If after when you're on official firmware 3.41 and you can't update again to any firmware or it says corrupt data then try downgrading to 3.15 but only if you are already on 3.41.

@kingbecher1 You cant. Only people with 3.55 firmware or lower can downgrade.

@arcangle555 It depends on the problem, it can be the hard drive but in most cases the RSOD doesnt appear because of a corrupted drive, it is usually a problem with the flash part of the PS3. The PS3 doesnt put the firmware on the drive but on the PS3 itself.

i'm using a psp with CF (5.00 m-33)... i press power-eject in my ps3 and the psp screen says that it is requesting jig challenge, then that ps3 has sent a challenge and then it says that it has responded to the challenge, but the ps3 doesnt turn back off... can anybody tell me what am i doing wrong, because i have a RSOD ps3 :(...

Here is my problem, I successfully downgraded my PS3 to 3.55 via e3 flasher, and i was trying to update to the OFW 3.55 and i looked away for a sec. then it just cut off, no light, no beep nothing, i turned it on again and it came on on green for like 10 secs then cut off, not light no beep. I thought it was the power or overheating but it wasn't the problem, they are working fine. Will this method work for PS3 Slim 'Nor' CECH-2501A?

See, me and my bro have a PS3 and when ever it installs and finishes it just keeps coming up to install it... We've tried bout 7-8 times

@WingsofReality1 i get the 8002f169 error message, when i tried to install ofw 3.55, and 3 different types of 3.55 cfw, also, i put blackops in and it wanted the disc to install 3.50 and when i tried that it still said the data is corrupt, and im trying to find some 3.40 but i cant, and when i tried a normal 3.55 or hacked 3.55, it wouldnt turn off after i put the first lv2diag file in, so i turned it off about 10 minutes but then the second file alone wouldnt turn it off

@CaffadaffaHacksPS3 How did you get it into service mode then? This tutorial only works if you get it into service mode.

Anyhow, what error message/code do you get when you try to install 3.41 cfw, 3.55 ofw or 3.55 cfw through xmb? If you get the 8002f169 error code that is because the 3.41 firmware this video links to is spoofed to 3.56. That is why you have to downgrade once more through service mode but use a 3.40 ofw pup instead of the modified 3.41 pup provided here.

@WingsofReality1 I dont have the calculator but it still managed to work without it for me, but i cant install 3.41 cfw, 3.55 ofw or cfw, when i try to do it again and use a 3.55 cfw it wont work, any tips

After I did what you did in the video, I just had to downgrade again to 3.40 (used the same method and files from your video except I replaced the PS3UPDAT.PUP you had with the OFW 3.40 PS3UPDAT.PUP) as I kept getting the 8002f169 error when trying to install OFW 3.55. Thanks again!
