Aspen Institute President Walter Isaacson interviews General Colin Powell and Senator Sam Nunn about the prospects for finding bipartisan consensus in 2008 around foreign policy. Nunn and Powell discuss the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hosted by the Aspen Institute, The 2008 Aspen Ideas Festival will engage its participants in a variety of programs, tutorials, seminars and discussion events which together are guaranteed to charge the atmosphere with vibrant intellectual exchange. Think of it as a week-long summer university for the mind -- remarkable lectures and classes across a stimulating array of topics.

  • it is so stupid u go and burn the whole country and than it becomes their own problem they have to solve it. hahhahha

  • In the end it's all business. All this bullshit about freedom and democracy is just a justification for control of resources. Not to speak of WMDs. And when it comes to Iraq, Colin Powell has no credibilty whatsoever. Don't think for one moment that, because the US installed a puppet government in Iraq the insurgency is going to go away. It will cost you, and us all, dearly.

  • "If I would have thought for one second that my salary at Carlyle would ever fall below seven figures, I may have rethought the whole waving of the white powder under the noses of congress thing." Colin Powell. Never trust a man that make a living killing people. Ever.

  • A camel is a thoroughbred horse designed by a "committee consensus"

  • colin powell lied infront of the world .

in front of security council he must shuttt up.

    he is out . out.

  • When I listen to Colin Powell, as much as I respect his intelligence, I am struck by the total lack of acknowledgement that the Bush administration has created a situation that will have consequences long after the next president's office ends. It was a strategic error to invade Iraq, period.

  • Do you think maybe that the whole idea of invading Iraq was doomed from the start??

  • Army. When US entered Iraq, they should have brought more soldiers. 1 soldier for every 200 feet of border in Iraq. That would have keept all terrorists out of Iraq. Pakistan is doing fine, people there just have to avoid killing each other. A no violence policy is key in Pakistan.
