1987 McGuire AFB Open House & Airshow
McGuire AFB, New Jersey
August 16, 1987
IN THIS VIDEO, provided to Steve's Airshow World and shot by Wim Jeronimus, you will see some of the flying displays during the 1987 McGuire AFB Open House & Airshow, which includes a surprise appearance by the USAF Thunderbirds, flybys of F-106s from the New Jersey ANG, demos by the AV-8A Harrier, F-14 Tomcat, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and performances by McGuire AFB's C-141B Starlifters and F-4 Phantoms, the US Army Golden Knights, and the US Navy Blue Angels. Demos and flybys not seen in this video include a C-130 demonstration and flybys of a C-5 Galaxy. In addition, you will also see a promo ran by WPVI-TV (Channel 6, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia) that deals with the airshow.
My best friend Keith supplied this video, along with several other videos of airshows that his father shot when Keith and I were both little. I was three years old at the time of this airshow and do not remember anything from it. I apologize for the quality of the video, as it was converted from Real Media format to Windows Media Video, and the original size of the video was actually 160x120 pixels.
Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
That Harrier put on quite a show after the Thunderbirds finished up and the open house was wrapping up.

Heck, yeah. It was the height of the Cold War. Pres. Reagan was pumping out military hardware like a Friday night McDonald's for a high school marching band. Good times!

Airshows dont need those gay tents they make you pay extra just to get to see the fighters take off,But the real treat is always in the air.Man i want to see a C-141 after my dad told me he saw one takeoff very steep
