Eniale's Rule: Music Only

"Lose Control"

You don't remember my name.
I don't really care.
Can we play the game your way?
Can I really lose control?

Just once in my life,
I think it'd be nice,
Just to lose control, just once,
With all the pretty flowers in the dust.

Mary had a lamb.
His eyes black as coals.
If we play very quiet, my lamb,
Mary never has to know.

Just once in my life,
I think it'd be nice,
Just to lose control, just once.

If I cut you down to a thing I can use,
I fear there will be nothing good left of you.

  • It's pretty obvious, isn't it? It's about giving in to instincts and desires and 'losing control'. And yes, it IS sexual. It's hardly about life on a farm....I suppose it's showing the grittier, darker side to human passion (''pretty flowers in the dust') and that desire drives us to do dark deeds.

  • Hey people, guess what? A new Evanescence album is announced! More of the beautiful Amy Lee's grasping voice shall over take us once again!

  • Before I wrote the song "Imaginary" I wrote Self Control which was recorded by Laura Branigan. The two songs have something in common, besides me..."Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story" - Imaginary..."Before the morning comes, A story's told" - Self Control. Self Control inspired me to also write Lose Control performed by Evanesence.

  • the awkward moment her friend Mary hears this song

  • I loved the Open Door so much. It's so different from Fallen and their self-titled album ( which I both really love to death ) but this one's got some gothic feel to it, and its so different and weird ... It's just really beautiful.

  • Did anyone notice that the "Ahh ahh..." in this Evanescence song, "Lose Control" is the same as the "Ahh ahh" refrain in the new 2011 Evanescence song "The Change"?

  • It took years, but I finally like this song. A lot. It used to be the only track on The Open Door that bugged me, but now I can see the beauty of the song. Maybe it's that the end of the song has the same sort of "Ahhhh" part that The Change has, but this is another outcry song, really. Really great song.

  • holy crap i forgot how amazing TOD was bcuz i've been obsessing over the new album ^.^

  • i think this song is about cheating..."mary never has to know"

  • I adore this song. It brings out the inner-most fearful images in my mind. She reaches far beyond my level of freaky imagination. She is amazing :P
