It may be an obvious gesture, and while I don't think it necessarily does justice to Sufjan Stevens' song, I just think of it is as a documentation of how I saw Chicago on that particular day during that particular hour. Anyway, enjoy.

Although I've been to Chicago a dozen or more times... I've only been there once since i've heard the song.

I got in my car, and took a spontaneous 5-hour trip down there.I know the feeling first hand of witnessing in awe, the beauty of this song and the city while driving in from 94 one cloudy afternoon.

It's a day I refuse to forget for the rest of my life.

You've gotten close to capturing the

overwhelming feeling of being so physically lost, yet so mentally found in the same sense I had.

whoa whoa thanks for the comment...i made this video a while ago on a whim as i was driving around chicago during a business trip (i make corporate videos for a living). initially i wanted to make a video like this for every city i visited for work, but ended up only really doing it for chicago. maybe it's something i should set out to do on my next trip and start the set all over again

In a way this does capture the essence of the song. It puts you in that strange, reflective place that observing life from the care window gives you.
