Whereas an eye appointment and glasses may cost $100, children in a family not wealthy enough to afford standard health care but not poor enough to qualify for Medi-Cal can get vision, dental and health care four about $250. This is part of California's Healthy Family Program. Gov. Brown proposed cutting $11 million in vision benefits. The Legislature took away only $3 million.
