MY NOVEL ABOUT THE BATTLE OF PELELIU--THE FIRST SHALL BE LAST--IS NOW AVAILABLE ON KINDKLE AT WWW.AMAZON.COM. This is an eyewitness account of the World War Two Pacific Battle of Peleliu by Corporal James Edward Ellis. My father, James Ellis, was a member of the First Marine Division. He fought in four major Pacific battles: Guadal Canal, New Britain, Peleliu, and Okinawa, where he was wounded on the third day of battle and received the Purple Heart.

Please check out my novel, "The First Shall Be Last," which is based on my father's war memoirs of the Battle of Peleliu. It is available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or can be ordered at your local bookstore or library.

  • my grandfather landed on Peleliu.

7th Marines under Hanneken. He has explained, to the best of his ability, the sheer terror and horror of the assault.

God bless the Coprs and all their sacrifice in the Pacific.

much respect to all other vets in all theaters.

  • Semper Fi--They were and still are "the Greatest Generation."

The picture of the 'Asian' at that point is actually a Korean who was captures by the Allies on D-Day in Europe. If you look carefully, he's wearing German uniform. He was initially drafted into Japanese army, captured by Russia, and than captured by German. The Germans put him on the beach where he was captured.

    Thought you'd want to know.

  • i respect the battle and everything but the dude talking was not a part of the second world war the was some horrible voice changing

  • @virreee94 Sounds like it could be the old man's actual voice. Some of those older guys get pretty gruff as time goes on.

  • Like this if you remembered call of duty world at war

  • Good movie but whats up with the voice, ruins everything.
