  • Mongoose's Traveller is new system (close to CT though) that is based off of Marc Miller's fore coming T5. T5 should start shipping in just a few days (late this week, early next) and RTT (Riki Tiki Traveller...get the joke?) should be shipping from Mongoose in late Feb or early March.

With Traveller, for the most part, it's not the system that attracts people it is The Imperium setting.

  • Hey Kurt, maybe you could review the Mongoose Publishing version of Traveller? I'd be interested to see which one you think is better in your opinion.

  • Only super hard losers play traveller.

  • Lawl! Lettuce taped to their forehead!

    That made me lol hard...

  • slough feg!

  • Lettuce aliens have always been ballz, as has Star Trek.

  • Mongoose Traveller.

  • Transhuman Space is probably my single favorite RPG. I don't know about the GURPS system itself, but I've never been more inspired by a single book as Transhuman Space when it comes to just plain ideas. I like it as a source book even beyond RPGs, really.

  • I checked out Traveller, but actually like the setting for Transhuman Space...really awesome hard sci-fi. probably even more than traveller.

  • One of the "secrets" of Traveller is that, in effect, it is made up of many "mini-games" that can be "played" without a ref. You can create characters (yes, who could - in the original version - die in the process), roll up entire planetary systems, build starships, etc etc. And then you could bring all of that prior work straight into the RPG setting without losing any of the effort you had put in.
