This is from a DVD that accompanies the book Fashion Illustration for Designers by Kathryn Hagen. Ms. Hagen is a fashion illustration instructor at Otis College.

Ms. Hagen is very adept at creating lovely, stylized figures, heads and croquis for fashion design. Her tools include: Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils and markers, Tombo brush pens, gouache, liner pens and Milky Gel pens.

Even if you don't study fashion illustraion per se, this book is an excellent resource for improving your skills with drawing and rendering the clothed figure. You can find it here

  • i have a question...Did it improve your sketches or art work?

  • ^^ Actually, I think it has helped my drawing. For one thing, her style is the style I like and I've gotten a lot better at drawing clothes. And my proportions have improved.

  • As with anything, however, drawing still takes lots of practice. ^^

  • r u ms hagen herself?

Nice vid tutorial.. Thx for uploading..:)

Couldn't find the book at local bookstore...definitely gonna buy one~!

  • Nah, I just enjoy her book and wanted to share. I've only seen the book a couple of time at either Borders and Barnes and Nobles. Since its a school text book, you're more likely to find it online. I got a used copy on Amazon for pretty cheap. ^^

  • blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. stupid critics suck all they do is complain.

  • buy magazines, cut out the photos you like, get a spiral sketch book from the drug store and some rubber cement glue.. make yourself and idea book for inspiration. It will be there when you need it. Add photos & fabric swatches to it, song lyrics,etc.. whatever inspires you.

  • the ear seams to be too low, nice work though.

  • you do know that she's using prisma right.... i mean... you can't really erase that much and the proportion is suppose to be fashion.... not normal ugly people. and also, the ear may seem a bit far but the video is tilted at an angle. she's just perfectin every way possible
